Are you planning to visit the countryside? Hills, woods but also long walking trails are a gorgeous experience for you and your dog. However, it is important not to forget our pets needs and to watch for any possible danger they could face on trails.
Before setting off for a trail with your dog, make sure to choose a short hike and pay attention to temperatures: stay out of the sun if they are very high and bring with you enough water and a bowl in case your dog gets dehydrated. Try to keep him away from puddles as they could be dangerous for your dog’s health.
In case of large or giant dog breeds, remember that physical efforts should be measured considering that your dog’s strength is generally lower than yours. Always consider his level of tiredness and emotional states in order to make the hike a time of fun and entertainment for him as well.
You should also prefer hikes with rivers or watercourses where your dog can drink and/or bathe. Keep also an aye on water currents and in case your buddy is swept away by the river, remember he will try to swim counter-current so it will be easier to rescue him upstream rather than downstream.
If your dog goes too far along the trail, wait for him to come back without moving: even if he takes a while to return, don’t panic. He will easier find you if you don’t move from where he left you. In any case in Tuscany it is mandatory to walk dogs always on a leash.
All these are simple tips to fully enjoy a wonderful walk in the nature and regenerate your mind.
